LUCKNOW: A Mega Health Awareness Event focusing on Women Health was organized at Pursaini Gram Panchayat in Mohanlalganj Block on 25th March, 2017 under DLF Project. The event had two components ÔÇô Health Check-up Camp and a cultural evening aimed at health awareness.
Specialized health check-up services for women and children and general health check-up for all. While the team for specialized health check-up consisted of gynecologists and pediatricians, the general health check-up included blood pressure, diabetes and other seasonal ailments which were attended by a team of doctors. The family planning counseling services was one of the special features of the event. Some local NGOs had also joined hands to help generate the awareness on HIV/AIDS and other ailments. The Health Camp started at 10.00 am. Total 167 Clients had turned in the Health Camp.
The theme of the cultural program on health awareness was ÔÇ£Khushaal Parivaar Ka hai Nishaan Swastha Mahila Swasth SantaanÔÇØ.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. K.P Tripathi Suptt by lighting of lamp. One of the attractions of the program was Godbharai ceremony of pregnant women. Godhbharai is an interesting north Indian ceremony which revolves around the pregnant women and this concept is being utilized to drive home the message on ante-natal care.
This intervention has given a new look to this ceremony and Godhbharai has come out from the four walls of a family tradition to the forefront of public domain where the pregnant women are felicitated and motivated for ANC visits and institutional delivery. This initiative was a targeted intervention to increase the number of institutional deliveries, a sacred thread tied on the wrist and vermilion applied on the forehead of all the pregnant women who attended the ceremony as a sacred beginning of the event. The ceremony is conducted after messages by the chief guest and the doctor regarding the importance and relevance of the ceremony. Thereafter the pregnant women were handed gifts and also iron tablets. Total 15 expectant mothers had participated in Godhbharai event.
The another key attraction of the event was experience sharing of the couples who adopted family planning methods through Intervention of Amrit Corner-Family Planning Counseling Center running at CHC Mohanlalganj. They spoke boldly on the issue of family planning and gave message to community to break the hitch to enquire about the family planning methods available.
It was followed by the wonderful musical performance by famous Bhojpuri singer S.P Chauhan & his troupe. Women empowerment, women and child health were the underlying themes for the songs.
The eminent guests including Mr. Guarav Khokhar, AGM Project DLF, Mr Arun Pandey, Project Head JLL Mr. Shamim Ahmad Sr. HSE Manager Local elected leaders and Block Development Officer and all front line workers including Medical Officers and villagers were present in the event.
